Beaches of fine sand, restaurants of grilled fish and whale-watching excursions all make up the attraction of Mirissa.
My suggestion:
Apart from the busy main beach, you can find numerous coves and inlets and spend the night in one of the little guesthouses by the sea.
Summary:
Mirissa beach is superb, like the majority of the beaches in the south. When evening comes, the many restaurants on the sea front light up to the sound of reggae music. Select your own fresh fish from one of the stalls by the ocean and eat it with your feet in the sand.
If you love nature and sealife, you should definitely come to Mirissa to see the whales. Choose your equipment with care, as excursions in the sea have really become an industry that places the lives of marine mammals in danger. I went out on a boat which offers tours that respect cetaceans and their environment. It's a bit more expensive but you will not regret it.
As night falls, you might come across lobster fishermen who embark on the dark waters to fish in the reef by the single light of their lamps.

3 hours from Colombo, Mirissa is a small and pretty seaside resort situated on the southern coast of Sri Lanka.
My suggestion:
From December to April, Mirissa is visited by migrating whales. Any chance to observe them is a magical moment that you will never forget.
Summary:
For lovers of white sand, palm tree lined beaches, romantic sunsets and snorkelling - Sri Lanka is your paradise. The entire southern coast is superb, but Mirissa remains the most popular seaside resort amongst tourists.
A stay in Mirissa turned out to be ideal for me as it is easy to organise walks along the sea, where I was lucky enough to be able to see whales, dolphins and even sharks.
In summary, Mirissa can be a relaxing break during your stay in Sri Lanka. Take note that the quiet of the day on the beach is often broken by the numerous street vendors who can be a little clingy.
