A city steeped in spirituality in the state of Himachal Pradesh, at the gateway to the Kullu Valley.

My suggestion:
Spend a night in a Buddhist monastery, a brand new experience guaranteed!
Summary:

The city of Mandi isvery spiritual  : it includes some 81 temples in carved stone. You have to admit that it's amazing! Centered around Indira Market, it's also a perfect stopover to buy fabric and/or get quickly made tailored outfits... and they'll make them traditional or modern, by the way.

The landscape is green and really quite beautiful, a real treat for those who love going for walks. One of this location's benefits is that it is off the beaten path, which means you can meet the locals more easily, without getting into 100% business/tourism relationships.

My great experience from Mandi was traveling to beautiful Rewalsar Lake, which is surrounded by temples, gompas, and gurdwara. The spot is a pilgrimage place for Buddhists, Hindus, and Sikhs alike.
