A town in Madhya Pradesh, known for its 16th Century palaces.

My suggestion:
Orchhais a particularly quiet town, and is pleasant place to stay for a few days during a trip to India.
Summary:

I really enjoyed my time in Orchha. The town and its people create a calm and quiet atmosphere, which is pretty unusual in India.

It's also home to some incredible palaces and monuments. During Monsoon season, when the ponds and canals are filled to the brim, you'll feel like you're floating on water.

The river that runs through the town is extremely clean, which will surprise you when you travel around India ! An interesting sight in the early morning is watching religious followers perform their 'ablutions'. They continue their rituals in the evening, when they place dozens of floating candles on the river.
