The Zambezi River is the 4th most important in the continent, behind the Nile, the Congo and the Niger. It stretches 2750 km from Zambia to the Indian Ocean, passing through Victoria Falls. Downstream, you can go rafting from Livingstone.

My suggestion:
Go there between July and January, when water levels drop. This is the best season for rafting on this river.
Summary:

I loved rafting on the Zambezi River. It’s definitely a thrill! I chose the "full day" excursion, but was exhausted at the end of the day. The advantage is that you learn how to ride the rapids in a team, and it takes a bit of training on smaller rapids before moving on to level 4 rapids and even a few at level 5! We went down 22 rapids in total.

It really made me want to go rafting more often. The team was really very professional, with quality equipment. I felt safe, which is important given the level of difficulty of the rafting there. Next time I will take the "4-Day Safari" with bivouacs and camp fires on the riverbanks!
