Also referred to as Qasr Al Farafrah, the town ofAl Farafrah makes for a beautiful travel experience off the beaten track and away from the hordes of tourists during a stay in Egypt.
The architecture of Al-Farafrah still remains traditional, despite the construction of certain buildings in reinforced concrete. Take the time to admire the houses made of mud bricks, with their massive doors, medieval locks and their walls painted with verses from the Koran.
I recommend you go for a walk among the remains of the town’s Roman fortress, a historical memory of the strategic position Al Farafrah occupied on the caravan route. To learn more about the daily life and traditions of Al Farafrah, I recommend the Badr museum, named after its founder Badr Abdel Moghny, a self-taught artist of the region.
