The town of Aswan appeared very calm and quiet and filled with an atmosphere reminiscent of Nubian traditions. It is impossible to go through Aswan without visiting the hydroelectric dam. It is simply enormous! It makes you realise that by regulating water levels and providing electricity to the many villages not previously connected to the grid, this dam has transformed the country particularly by changing the silts. For example, there are no longer crocodiles beyond the dam. The lotus flower tower is a reminder of the friendship between Egypt and the Soviet Union. But Aswan is also the perfect departure point for a trip on a felucca. I loved sailing on this craft, crewed by Nubians. Whilst being able to see the Mausoleum of Aga Khan on this trip, I also visited Elephantine Island. This is a magical place filled with flowers and palm trees. Aswan is also the departure point for visiting the Philae Temple. I crossed over on a motorboat. This symbol of love is a well preserved romantic temple. A must-see destination <a href="/egypt/">during a visit to Egypt.</a> ﻿​
