I found Cairo to be a city full of contrasts. For Europeans it is difficult to get to grips with the city. There is a great cultural wealth but also a sense of chaos. When crossing the city you are immediately struck by the poverty, the inhabited cemeteries, the hookah smokers sitting outside,... Which leads you straight into the souks next to the once famous Tahrir square. A whole new experience awaits you. I crossed the city to visit the Mohamed Ali Mosque. It is an opportunity to visit a Muslim place of worship. It is incredible to see the clock which was exchanged for the obelisk now found in Concorde square in Paris. Of course, I visited Cairo Museum This is a must-see destination<a href="/egypt/">when you travel to Egypt</a> ﻿​. The funerary mask of Tutankhamun is very moving. It is also in these slightly disorganised surroundings that I tried to find out more about the sarcophagi, the mummies, the jewellery... (This has certainly changed since the revolution.)
