Day 1: Welcome To Vietnam

Chao Ban, and welcome to Hanoi. We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel for check-in. Today you'll have the day free to rest or explore the surrounding area at your own leisure. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 2: The Villages Around Hanoi By Bike

Pick-up at 8:30 for a short transfer outside of Hanoi to learn about village life, traditions, and customs. We will be walking and cycling past villages, visiting local markets, worshipping temples, and communal houses. Then, it's on to a small food demonstration before our lunch at one of the local family's homes.

In the afternoon, we set off from Dong Ngac, cycling on mostly rural lanes through surrounding villages to Lien Mac, a beautiful area of immaculately tended vegetables and flowers. Here, you will get a close-up look at the colourful fields, with the chance to chat to some of the local people out caring for their crops. After taking another route back to Dong Ngac, you’ll have a short break for a drink at your host family’s home, then it's back to your hotel in Hanoi at around 17:00. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 3: Trang An And Hoa Lu

Depart from your hotel at 8:00 to Ninh Binh. After a 2.5 hour drive (about 100 km), you'll hop on a row-boat to the beautiful Trang An, a World Heritage site marked out by meandering streams, towering mountain peaks, and limestone caves.

After lunch, short transfer along the peaceful country road to Hoa Lu - here our guide will take you through the interesting history of Vietnam's ancient capital in the 9th Century. We return to Hanoi in late afternoon at around 18:00. Dinner, then at 20:30, you'll be transferred to the train station for your night train to Sapa. Boarding is at around 21:40 in a shared, A/C soft sleeper cabin.

Day 4: Day Trek To Ta Phin Village

Your train will arrive into Sapa at about 6:30, and our guide will be there to pick you up. You'll have some time for a short rest, hot shower, and some breakfast before your trek begins! (4-5 hrs - 14 km). A short transfer and we’re off. Along the hike, you'll get to meet and talk with locals working in the fields, and enjoy a picnic lunch en route before continuing to Ta Phin village – home to the Red Dao people. Your host family will warmly welcome you into their traditional home, where we will share in an ethnic style dinner and stay the night.

Day 5: Explore Ta Phin, Then Back To Sapa

At the first of gleam of daylight, you'll awake to the sounds of morning village life. After breakfast, we will set off to complete our trek (4 hrs). Alternatively, instead of trekking, you can choose to take a short morning wander around the village before heading back to Sapa.

Upon arrival in Sapa, check in to your hotel, shower, rest, and eat lunch. At 14:30, we will walk on to Cat Cat village, home to the Black H’mong. Take part in a traditional musical performance before dinner, and spend the evening at your own leisure. Overnight stay.

Day 6: Sapa – Dragon Mountain

Wake up in Sapa town, breakfast at the hotel, then enjoy the morning activities in the town markets. Today, your guide is available to you for the whole day, although you do have the option to explore the area on your own. Our suggestions: visit the orchid gardens at Dragon Mountain, or complete another day trek to a hill tribe village. At 17:30, transfer to Lao Cai Train Station. Departure at 20:15 in a shared A/C soft sleeper cabin to Hanoi.

Day 7: Cruise And Swim In Bai Tu Long Bay

Safely back in Hanoi at 5:00, please find your way by foot back to your hotel near the train station. Shower, short rest, and breakfast. Departure for Halong Bay is around 8:00 in a shared van (4 hrs) from your hotel. Arrival at the port around 12:00 noon. On board, you'll be taken to your cabin to check-in before the trip briefing.

A fresh, local seafood lunch awaits you while you cruise to Bai Tu Long Bay. Stop off for a swim inside its mysterious cave, relax at our secluded island-beach, or explore the water by kayak. Enjoy dinner at sunset, then overnight on-board.

Day 8: Bai Tu Long Bay - Back To Hanoi

Early risers can enjoy the sunrise and serenity of Halong’s landscape. Breakfast at around 7:30, before our short row-boat trip with the locals of the bay. We’ll begin to head back to Halong Port and disembark at about 11:45 before lunch. On the last part of our cruise, you'll stop off at a water puppet show in a traditional Vietnamese village before arriving back into Hanoi at around 17:30.

Day 9: Free Day In Hanoi - Night Train To Hue

Free day to bask in the historical charm of Hanoi's capital. Spend your day relaxing or shopping, or why not wake up early (about 6:00) and join in an exercise class around Hoan Kiem Lake, or visit its numerous markets, stopping off to try some traditional street food. At 18:00, we'll pick you up for your night train to Hue. Boarding at 19:30 in a shared A/C soft sleeper cabin.

Day 10: Bike To Rural Villages

Arrival in Hue at around 09:00. Pick-up at the station, then transfer to your hotel. Shower, short rest, and breakfast. In the morning, you'll visit the Imperial City to learn all about the royal kingdom of the past. We will then embark for our beautiful boat ride along Perfume River, stopping off at Thien Mu Pagoda. Our boat journey continues downstream, with lunch provided on-board.

Our afternoon start with a bike ride (14 km in total) to the flower village of Tien Non, then on to Thanh Tien paper flower-making village, where you can making one yourself. Afterwards, we'll set off to the village in which they make traditional folk paintings, ride through more of the beautiful and peaceful countryside of Hue, before hitting the road back to your hotel for about 17:30.

Day 11: Royal Tombs, Cyclo Ride, And Market 

After breakfast at your hotel around 8:30, we will head off on a relaxing 1 hour Vietnamese cyclo ride to visit Dong Ba Market, then explore Ming Mang and Khai Dinh Royal Tombs. Then, it's time for our transfer to Hoi An. En-route, we'll make stops at Lang Co Beach, Hai Van Pass, Cham Museum, and maybe the Marble Mountains if time permits. Overnight at Hoi An in the evening.

Day 12: The Ancient Town Of Hoi An

At 8.00, you'll be met at your hotel for a short transfer to the boat docks in time for boarding to a fishing village where you will get to see and experience the life of a fisherman here. A short basket row-boat along the village of water coconut is next on the agenda before lunch.

We will then cycle along the country road through paddy fields of rice, coconut, or corn, heading to the main town of Hoi An. Our afternoon will continue with sightseeing to the famous cultural sites around Hoi An, and finally, we end our trip at around 17:00 back at your hotel.

Day 13: Flight To Nha Trang

Breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to the airport in Danang for a noon flight to Nha Trang. Upon arrival, airport pick-up, then transfer to your hotel. The afternoon is yours to relax on the beautiful white-sand beach or take a dip in the sea!

Day 14: Nha Trang, Island Boat Trip

Morning pick up from hotel at 8:00 and transfer to the boat station (15 mins). Hop on a private boat and begin a day on the water. First stop: Tri Nguyen Aquarium. Then, we cruise to Mot Island, one of the best places for snorkelling in Nha Trang. Hold your breath for as long as you can and dive deep into a colourful world of fish and coral.

Next stop, Coral Island, a paradise for sun bathers and those who want to relax on the beach. Lunch will be served with a selection of fresh seafood. After lunch, cruise to Tranh Island for more swimming and relaxation, then head back to Nha Trang City for around 17:00. Free time in the evening, and overnight at your hotel.

Day 15: City Tour Of Saigon

Early morning flight at 7:50, arriving into Saigon at 8:45. Transfer downtown, and check-in at your hotel before our city tour of Saigon begins. Visit the Binh Tay Market in Cho Lon, stop off at Thien Hau, a 150-year-old Chinese Temple, then visit a Lacquer-wares workshop as well as the Jade Emperor Pagoda. In the afternoon, you'll see the War Remnants Museum, the Notre Dame Cathedral, and the historic Central Post Office. Back at your hotel at around 17:30.

Day 16: Tay Ninh And The Cu Chi Tunnels

Depart Saigon at 8:00 from your hotel for a morning excursion to Tay Ninh and the Great Cao Dai Temple (a place of worship across Buddhism, Confucius, Taoism, Hinduism and Christianity). Take part in the noon mass at the temple (1 hr). Lunch in Tay Ninh.

In the afternoon, you'll visit the Cu Chi Outdoor Museum to learn about the infamous tunnel systems of the Vietnamese army. Take this opportunity to get a unique understanding of the guerillas' underground fighting strategies during the war. Crawl through 50 to 100 m of the 200 km tunnel system if you dare. On the way back to Saigon, stop off to visit a local rice-paper workshop and take in the views of the Vietnamese countryside. We’ll drop you back at your hotel around 5:30 pm.

Day 17: The Fertile Mekong Delta

Depart Saigon at 8:00 from your hotel, direction: south to Cai Be. Upon arrival at around 10:30, board a boat for a journey through the Mekong's floating markets. Cruise through the secluded canals and cross the Mighty Mekong to an island where we will stop off to enjoy fresh seasonal fruit before heading on to Vinh Long. Back on the bus for an overnight trip to Can Tho.

Day 18: Chau Doc Park And Sam Mountain

Early wake up call at 6:30 am to start the day with an early boat trip to Cai Rang’s floating market. We’ll have some distance to cover to reach Phong Dien, so take your cameras to enjoy the scenery. Upon arrival, we'll set off on a short cruise followed by a walk on a serene country road. 

In the afternoon, head back to Chau Doc. Stop off to visit the Stork Garden near Thot Not and an incense factory. Arrival in the late afternoon in Chau Doc, where we will conquer Sam Mountain (3 km) with a rewarding hike. From the top, the panoramic views reach over to Cambodia. Check into your hotel and rest up for the night.

Day 19: Speed Boat To Phnom Penh

After breakfast, transfer to the boat pier for our departure to Phnom Penh. We'll board a speedboat at 8:00 and arrive in Phnom Penh at about 13:00. Your local guide will greet you and take you to the town centre for lunch, before we begin our half-day city tour. We will visit the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, Independence Monument and National Museum. After passing by the river-front park to take photographs of Watt Phnom, Watt Phnom Daun, and Penh Pagoda, the tour ends back at your hotel at around 18:00.

Day 20: Angkor Wat and Apsara Dance

Breakfast at your hotel, then transfer to Phnom Penh Airport for your departure to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, you'll be met by your local guide and transferred to your hotel. Then, your journey to the mother of all temples begins: Angkor Watt.

Believed to be the world's largest religious building, this temple is the perfect fusion of symbolism and symmetry and a source of pride and strength to all Khmers. Built in the 12th century by King Suryavarman II, it is most famous temple og the Angkor complex. At 18:30 you'll be treated to a welcome dinner and an Apsara Dance Show at a local restaurant. Back to hotel to catch up on some rest.

Day 21: Angkor Thom, Bayon, And Taprohm

At 8:30, it' time to hop on our bikes to explore the Angkor’s World Heritage Site and splendid temples. On the itinerary: the West Gate of Angkor Thom, Angkor Thom, South Gate, Bayon Temple, and Baphuon Temple. You'll also get to see the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace, and the Terrace of the Leper King.

We then continue on to visit the fabulous Ta Prohm, among the roots of enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers. Bear witness to some of the measures being taken to preserve the temple while at the same time allowing nature reclaim the area. Enjoy a one-hour foot massage before your transfer back to the hotel at around 18:30.

Day 22: Bantey Srei, Artisan d’Angkor

Breakfast at your hotel, then at 8:00, we will start the day with a visit to Banteay Srei - everyone's favourite site. The charm of this temple lies in its small stature, remarkable state of preservation, and the excellence of its decorative carvings. Next is Banteay Samre’s rose-coloured sandstone walls, decorated with carvings and bas-reliefs.

Finally, we visit Artisan d’Angkor and a local silk farm. You'll get a tour of the classes and workshops to get a glimpse into the unique vocational training programmes teaching young artists the techniques and styles of classic Cambodian artistry. Transfer, and catch your afternoon flight from Siem Reap to Luang Prabang. Airport pick-up upon arrival.

Day 23: The Town Of Luang Prabang

Morning at your own leisure, then at around 13:30, meet with your local guide for a tour of Luang Prabang. Visit the national museum (closed on Tuesdays) at the former Royal Palace, the impressive Stupa of Watt Visoun, and the shrine of Watt Aham at Watt Mai.

Next, we ascend Mount Phousi for an exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa, with a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. From there, we’ll explore the night market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by the local Hmong people. Back to the hotel in the evening for free time to relax before dinner.

Day 24: Pak Ou Cave And Khuang Si Waterfall

Departure from your hotel at 8:00 for a short guided tour of the city’s oldest temples: Watt Sene and the magnificent Watt Xiengthong. We then embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, offering us breathtaking views of the tranquil countryside. Our destination is the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, a set of two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold-lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by devoted pilgrims.

Along the way, we will stop off at the village of Ban Xanghai, where local rice wine is produced. On the way back, we take a short drive to another small village, Ban Phanom, which has become famous for its hand weaving. Overnight at your hotel in Luang Prabang.

Day 25: The End Of The Trip
