Briefing on the great African adventure. Set off on the West bound road, bargain at the roadside markets bursting with fruits and vegetables and stop at extensive tea plantations. Continue to the Kibale National Park. After lunch, transfer to Bigodi Swamp, a papyrus and tree filled swamp, home to an abundance of birds including the Great Blue Turaco. The Bigodi Swamp Walk is an initiative of the local community and takes approximately two hours.

The full day chimpanzee experience is a unique opportunity to follow a group of chimpanzees in its daily activities. Along with Kibale reserve researchers and rangers, watch them wake up (de-nesting) and search for breakfast early in the morning . Then observe the full gamut of their behavior until they build new nests for themselves at the end of the afternoon. You will also be part of the Uganda Wildlife Authority initiative to habituate chimps to the human presence without changing their natural environment.
Kibale Forest National Park offers the greatest variety and concentration of primates in East Africa including about 500 chimpanzees! It offers the best primate viewing and possesses 335 bird species and 140 species of butterflies.

Drive to Queen Elisabeth National Park along the foothills of the Rwenzoris. The game seen will depend on the season, the Mweya peninsula is good for a variety of animals including elephants. In the Kasenyi plains, you will find mostly lion and Uganda kob. Have lunch at the lodge then take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel which many consider as a highlight of the safari. Afterwards, your driver guide will take you for a late afternoon game drive!
The Kazinga channel is a natural channel of 36 km long between Lake George and Lake Edward. The launch trip is the most popular activity at Mweya. From the safe boat you can see elephants, hippo, Nile crocodile and many water birds, plentiful along the channel.

Head for an early game drive searching for the big African game. After lunch or a picnic at the lodge, continue a game drive up to the end of the day.
Full day game drive: 150 km
Today we have two options for reaching Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, depending on the weather conditions. When dry, we take the road to the South toward Ishasha, home of the tree climbing lion. Near the Congolese border, we begin to climb Eastwards out of the rift and follow the rough track leading to Buhoma, at the edge of the forest. If the weather conditions are not so mild, we take the mountain track through cultivated expanses in the Rukungiri region to reach Bwindi Forest.
Bwindi Forest has now four sites where you can trek the gorillas. Depending on the availability of the gorilla permits, we will take you to Buhoma, Ruhija ,Rushaga or Nkuringo sector.

As the first light of dawn breaks through the curtain of mist clinging to the summits of the evergreen hills, we make our way into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Tracking the gorillas through the unique vegetation can take several hours of challenging walking in wet and muddy conditions. Meeting the Mountain Gorillas is a lifetime experience that you will never forget! After lunch, walk in the village around the lodge.

After breakfast, leave for Lake Mburo via Kabale. Also stop at the lake Bunyonyi. Arrival at Lake Mburo national park is foreseen in the afternoon just on time for a game drive before heading to the hotel. For bird lovers, this will be the best place to see the African finfoot in Uganda! At the national park, you will find some animals that you have not seen elsewhere like impalas, zebras and African elands.

After an early morning breakfast, enjoy a last game drive before leaving for Kampala. Have lunch on the way and arrive at Kampala in the late afternoon. Continue to Entebbe for your late evening flight.
