Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa

On your arrival in Lhasa, you will meet your Tibetan guide and driver. Then transfer to your hotel in Lhasa (about 1:5 hrs). Check in the hotel and take it easy for the rest of the day to acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 2: Lhasa Escorted Tour

In the morning your guide will meet you at the hotel to start your visits by Jokhang Temple in the old Lhasa city center. Jokhang temple is one of the most sacred temples in Tibet and it is always bustling with earnest local pilgrims. After that you will have time to walk around Bakhor street which is one of the most central markets of Lhasa. In the past it was the most famous local market but now it is a tourist gift shopping centre and the perfect place to pick up any souvenirs.

In the afternoon you will visit the famous Potala Palace, a cardinal landmark of Tibet and a masterpiece of Tibetan architecture which was first built by the 33rd King, Songtsen Gangpo in the 7th century and then later, in the 17th century, it was rebuilt by the 5th Dalai Lama. Since then it has been home to the Dalai Lama and his government.

Day 3: All famous Monuments in Tibet

This morning, you will visit the Drepung monastery, once the world's largest monument that housed more than 10,000 monks. It was the residence of the Dalai Lama prior to the Potala Palace. Walk through the narrow and twisted lanes and see the monks’ homes which make up a beautiful village.

In the afternoon you will visit the Sera Monastery. It was built in the fifteenth century by the Jamchen Choji Sakya Yeshi who was a disciple of Tsongka pa. Several monastic colleges in Sera are home to hundreds of monks from different parts of Tibet. The famous Buddhist philosophical debates among the monks happen here every day in the afternoon (except on Sundays). Enjoy free time for the rest of the day before spending the night in Lhasa.

Day 4: Transfer to Gyantse

After breakfast, you will be driven south-west, through the zigzag road and up the Kampa la pass (4700m), from where you will be amazed by the breathtaking view of the holy Yamdrok lake with its turquoise colour and snowcapped Mt. Nyenchen Khangsar in the distance. You will then continue along the lake for a few kilometres until the lunch stop at Nagar Tse. The rest of the day will be spent enjoying the many magnificent valleys and exquisite Tibetan villages that you will pass through. En route you will stop at Karo la (5150m) to see the holy mount Nyenchen Kangsar glacier. After your arrival at Gyantse, you will see the Kumbum stupa and visit the Palkhor Choede monastery. This magnificent multi-door structure is the largest stupa in Tibet, it is not only well known for its architecture but also for its magnificent sculptures and paintings on its inner walls. Spend the night in Gyantse.

Day 5: Driving to ​Shigatse 

Today it is an easy and short drive to Shigatse (only 90km). After lunch, you will visit the Tashi Lhunpo monastery, which was built by the 1st Dalai Lama, Gedun Drup in 1447 and later became the seat of the Panchen Lama lineages. There you will see tombs of 7 passed Pachen Lamas lineages and it is a real pleasure to pass through the busy cobbled lanes twisting around the old buildings that used to be home to the monks of the area. Why not join the locals and take the long walk around the monastery, spinning the prayer wheels around the monastery walls and enjoying the view of the city from the hill, before heading back to the hotel in Shigatse.

Day 6: On the way to Everest

Today you will be driven toward Everest and en route you will visit the Sakya monastery, which is located right in the centre of the village with its special grey coloured walls. After that, continue the journey to Shegar, also known as New Tingri, and if time allows, you will visit the Shegar fort ruins located up on a hillside. Spend the night in Shegar.

Day 7: Everest Base Camp

Today you will be driven straight to Everest base camp, crossing Gyawula passes along the way. Shortly after the border check point at Shegar, drive south, crossing over the Gawu la pass (5250m). From the pass you will enjoy the beautiful Himalayan Ranges and its mighty peaks, rising beyond 8000m, Mt.Makalu (8463m), Mt.Lotse (8516m), Mt.Everest (8844m), Mt.Cho Oyu (8201m) and Mt.Shishapama (8020m) from left to right, climbing down to the dry valley of Tashi Zom and then finally to Everest Base Camp located in the Rongbuk valley.

Rongbuk is the highest monastery in the world and both monks and nuns live there. In the afternoon you have an option to do a short trek from the tent guest houses community up to E.B.C, which will take you about 2 hours or more depending on your fitness (6Km) or you can take the dedicated minibus instead.

Day 8: Relax in the hotel

This morning you will leave EBC and spend your day travelling. Once you have arrived, relax in Shigatse hotel, take a hot shower and have a good rest overnight in Shigatse.

Day 9: Tashi Lhunpo Monastery

This morning you will visit the Tashi Lhunpo monastery. It was built by the 1st Dalai Lama, Gedun Drup in 1447 and later it became the seat of the Panchen Lama lineages. There you will see the tombs of 7 Pachen Lamas and explore the old buildings as you wander through the quirky lanes. After that, you will be driven back to Lhasa, along the northern friendship highway. The road passes through a number of villages and en route you will stop at Nyimo local homemade incense factory if they are open. They use primitive, water-operated tools to process incense materials and each incense stick is totally handmade, you may see locals making it on the spot. You will arrive in Lhasa later in the afternoon and you will have some time on your own to explore around the Bakhor and to shop for gifts for your families and friends at home.

Day 10: Departure

Free until your driver and guide transfer you to the airport to take your flight back to Beijing.
