The farm you will visit is in the Uru Shimbwe area which is situated approximately 45 minutes from your Lodge. Large buffalo, wildebeest and zebra herds congregate on these grassy plains, as do giraffes, some so dark in coloration that they appear to be black from a distance. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favoured haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions. Before dark you shall drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
On the following day you will explore further into this enchanting national park. Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably hope to observe 100 of these in one day.
We will begin this day with an early morning drive to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge. This drive takes between 3 and 4 hours. It is an archaeological site located in the eastern Serengeti plains, where early human fossils were first discovered. Olduvai Gorge offers a brief glimpse into the origins of mankind. Following this, we will make our way towards central Serengeti with our guide using their skill and experience to give you the best possible game-viewing experience in this vast national park.
On this day you will begin with an early morning game-drive in central serengeti, but as the day wears on, your guide will begin to gravitate west towards Ngorongoro. In the afternoon you shall drive on to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and to a lodge with idyllic surroundings and wildlife roaming the grounds where you will have dinner and spend the night in comfort.
After breakfast, drive down into Ngorongoro Crater and enjoy a full day game drive. This is undoubtedly one of the best places to see the rare black rhino in Africa, not to mention the prides of lion and the magnificent black-mane lions. There are lots of colourful flamingos and the variety of water birds. In the crater you are also likely to see leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, many members of the antelope family, and small mammals of all sorts. In the late afternoon we will drive onward to Karatu town where you can settle in for dinner and rest at the lodge.
After an early breakfast, you will be collected at the hotel and begin your safari by driving to Tarangire National Park. This takes approximately 4 hrs depending on how long it takes to get through Arusha Town. This famous park is spectacular in the dry season through to well into the rainy season when many of the migratory wildlife species come back to the permanent waters of Tarangire River. Huge herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, elands and Oryx gather until the onset of the rain, when they migrate again to good grazing areas. Following your game drive you will make your way to the hotel to relax in the fading light while you await your dinner and a good night’s rest.
On this day you will have the opportunity to visit Moshi Town in the morning with a local guide to show you around. This is a perfect time to do some shopping for souvenirs and to sample some of the local cuisine. In the afternoon you can return to the Lodge to relax by the pool and soak in some sun after the rigors of your safari.
On this day after breakfast you will take a 1.5hr drive to one of the most stunning natural springs in Tanzania. In the rural village of Rundigai their lies an oasis among the dry scorched fields that the locals struggle to farm. The cold water that originate from Kilimanjaro's glacial melt bubbles up from a fault in the bedrock and over time this has encouraged the growth of plants and the flourishing of small fish and freshwater turtles. You will travel with a chef who will prepare you an excellent meal by the water while you swim and explore. This day-trip will continue until mid-afternoon at which point you will be driven back to the Lodge for the night.
