At around 60km north of Stone Town, Kendwa is a relatively quiet little town. It's beach is one of the best in Zanzibar.

My suggestion:
Every month, those up for a party head to the village for its Full Moon Party.
Summary:

If there's one thing you'll no doubt ask yourself during a trip to Zanzibar, it'll be "which beach should I choose?".

Amongst the resorts, big hotels and holiday clubs that line the coast Kendwa is the last remaining paradise. But, for how long, who knows? Time will tell. So far Kendwa's managed to avoid the waves of new complexes; the only waves are those from the Indian Ocean as they gently wash up along its white sands. Even if the scenery is calm and idyllic, it's not always that peaceful. As with everywhere in Zanzibar, beach boys (NOT the Californian group!) trawl the beaches trying to sell their wares. From trinkets to boat trips, they tout everything under the sun!

A few metres from the beach, the village has small shops and reasonably priced guest houses for travellers who want to avoid tourist-ridden hotel chains.
