During this 13 day adventure, you will visit many incredible National Parks, and see a diversity of wildlife. You will also visit tea plantations and see breathtaking landscapes. Finally, this holiday would not be complete without visiting the ancient cities of Sri Lanka! Among other incredible sites, you will visit Anuradhapura and Sigiriya, the "Lion's rock" fortress. You will then have seen the Island in all its main aspects!

You will be welcomed by our representative who will take you to the nearby fishing town of Negombo (30 min) where you can relax and acclimatize the rest of the day.
Today you can enjoy a late breakfast in Negombo as you will be picked up late morning around 11am and start your drive towards Puttalam- Wilpattu area. You will be driving along the coastal line where you will get to see small villages and bustling towns. Once you reach your hotel you are able to enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. You can take a walk around the property and discover the area on your own. The nature of Sri Lanka is truly wonderful, which you will get to experience throughout this journey.
Today is an early start. You will take your breakfast in form of a packet with you and can enjoy it on the way to your first park of Sri Lanka, Wilpattu National Park. This garden is the largest one in all of Sri Lanka giving a lot of space for its inhabitants to roam around. With some luck you will be able to spot elephants and perhaps even a leopard. However, Wilpattu National Park's beauty is its luscious greenery and its ancient trees. Once you have taken in the charm of this park you will head back to your hotel and can relax the rest of the day.
After breakfast you will continue your journey towards Anuradhapura, the first ancient capital of Sri Lanka and part of the cultural triangle. Once you reach the top of Mihintale you will have a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. The city is one of the principle shrines of Buddhism and has remarkable monuments, particularly the Dagabas, placed on circular foundations and surrounded by a ring of monolithic columns. After absorbing all this culture you will drive to your hotel and can relax and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
After breakfast you can visit more of Anuradhapura in case you missed something the day before. Afterwards you will continue towards Sigiriya. On the way you will stop at the famous Aukana Buddha, which is one of the largest standing Buddhas that has been carved out of a rock boulder. Once you arrive in Sigiriya you can freshen up before visiting the famous Sigiriya Rock, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, a 370-meter granite rock with a magnificent palace that was built around 475 AD. Once you reach the plateau you are faced with breathtaking views of the surrounding area. The rest of the day you can enjoy at leisure.
After an early breakfast you will travel to one of Sri Lanka's ancient cities. Polonnaruwa, which was the second capital of Sri Lanka. You will see the Gal Vihara Rock Sculptures and the three giant stones sculptures of the Buddha that were carved in granite by an unknown sculptor in the 12th century. Lunch will be served at the Polonnaruwa rest house on the shores of the giant Parakrama Samudraya, the island's largest manmade reservoir, built around the 10th century.
After lunch you will visit the famous Minneriya National Park and its large herds of elephants. Of course you will get to see various other animals in the park so make sure you do not forget your camera. After a day of culture and wild life you will head back to the hotel.
After breakfast you will drive towards the old capital of Sri Lanka - Kandy. On the way you will stop at the well-known Dambulla Cave Temple anther UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the most famous cave complex of magnificent Buddha Images and Rock Paintings of vivid colours and shapes. Afterwards, you will continue onwards and stop at a Spice garden in Matal. Furthermore, you will be taken on a tour of an artisanal Batik factory. Late afternoon you will visit the renowned Kandy Temple, also known as "The Temple of the Tooth", where the tooth relic of the Buddha lies. Once you have soaked in the calming atmosphere of the temple you will be taken to the lively sounds of the traditional Kandyan dance performance.
After breakfast you will visit the famous Peradeniya Botanical Garden. In particular, the orchid house has a spectacular collection of orchids where you will want to look at each flower in detail. Once you have enjoyed the relaxed morning you will continue your drive towards Nuwara Eliya, also known as the “Little England” of Sri Lanka because of its quaint British type cottages, set amidst verdant hills.
Here you will take a small city tour of Nuwara Eliya and if time allows visit a tea plantation (if not enough time you will visit one in Ella). Afterwards you will continue your journey via train to Ella, the ride will take you through some beautiful scenery of tea plantation and waterfalls. A perfect way to travel and see the beautiful nature of Sri Lanka’s hill country. Once you reach Ella you can relax the rest of the day. If you want you can walk to the nearby small town of Ella and enjoy a delicious dinner at the famous Café Chill.
After an early breakfast you will take a short hike to the famous Little Adams Peak. It is named after the sacred Adams Peak where it is said you can find the footprint of Lord Buddha. The hike will take you through some panoramic view of the surrounding area. You will be walking through lush green tea plantations, waterfalls and paddy fields. Once you have enjoyed your morning hike, you will return to your hotel. If you did not visit a tea plantation in Nuwara Eliya you can do so today. The rest of the day can be enjoyed at leisure.
After breakfast you will proceed to Yala. The drive down will take you through the Ella Gap, a scenic route through tea plantations, waterfalls and tropical jungle. On the way you will experience an amazing change of scenery where the lush tropical greenery of the wet zone gives way to the much dryer and arid landscape of the dry zone. The densest population of local wildlife is found in this part of Sri Lanka. The jeep safari through Yala will take place in the afternoon, when the possibility to see elephants, leopards, sloth bears, the most exotic inhabitants of the park, will be found coming to the watering holes.
After breakfast you will drive to Udawalawe National Park. This park is known for its large herds of elephants. Once you reach your hotel you can freshen up and get into your safari outfit one last time before you embark on your afternoon safari of this park. It truly is a beautiful safari and with some luck you will get to see the beautiful giants roaming around the grounds. You feel very relaxed just watching them. Afterwards return to your hotel where you can relax and explore the surrounding area.
After breakfast you will leave Udawalawe and continue your journey to your final stop of the tour, Sinharaja Forest Reserve. On arrival the local guide will decided if the weather, daylight and time are good enough to make a trek through the forest in the afternoon or if it is better to wait until the next morning.The main focus when trekking through the rainforest are the insects, amphibians, reptiles birds and small mammals. Most species found here are protected and unique to the island. A trekking trip through this hilly virgin rainforest is a unique experience. You will spend the night in a hotel outside the park and you can enjoy the quiet and relaxing atmosphere of the region.
Today is the last day of the tour. You will drive either to the south coast to your booked beach hotel or to the airport depending on how you would like to continue your holiday of Sri Lanka.
