13 Days to visit some of the major highlights Namibia has to offer. Spend time amongst the ancient sand dunes in Sossusvlei, go back in time with the coastal time of Swakopmund. Experience the vast landscapes and rocky outcrops of the Erongo and Kaokoland Region and exceptional game viewing at the world famous Etosha National Park. Depart from Windhoek in the morning and continue to the Namib Desert. Sossusvlei is where you will find the iconic red sand dunes of the Namib. The clear blue skies contrast with the giant red sand dunes to make this one of the natural wonders of Africa and a photographer’s heaven. You enjoy dinner at the lodge. Tomorrow mornings breakfast will also be included.
Today should be spent conducting an early morning excursion into the Namib Naukluft Park to the Namib Sand Sea including the Sossusvlei dune belt, “Dune 45” and “Dead Vlei”. This area has some of the highest known sand dunes in the world and the “vlei“ itself. Sossusvlei is situated at the end of the Tsauchab River, a dry riverbed that only flows in the years of exceptional rainfall. On completion of your excursion into Sossusvlei return to the Sesriem entrance of the Namib Naukluft Park.
The remainder of the afternoon can be at leisure to relax and enjoy the splendour of the desert scenery with its unique fauna and flora. You enjoy dinner at the lodge, as well as breakfast tomorrow morning.
After breakfast departure in a northerly direction via Walvis Bay to Swakopmund. This beautiful place is considered as Namibia’s premier coastal resort and is a popular destination with Namibian’s as a welcome respite from the heat of the interior. Time should be spent exploring Namibia’s premier coastal resort town. This quaint town nestled between desert and ocean is enhanced by lush green lawns, palm trees and carefully tended gardens. There is a good selection of restaurants and coffee shops selling traditional German cakes and pastries, while the coastline and the desert respectively offer many options for adventure or relaxation. Breakfast will be included for tomorrow morning.
Day at leisure to enjoy the town of Swakopmund, alternatively there are many activities that can be done at the coast. Breakfast for tomorrow morning will be included.
After a leisurely breakfast, depart from Swakopmund and continue to the central parts of Namibia and spend the night in the Erongo Region close to Omaruru. The Erongo Region is one of the largest of the 13 regions found in Namibia and received its name for the majestic Erongo Massif that dominates the area around Karibib, Omaruru and Usakos. Overnight at the lodge. Dinner and breakfast to be enjoyed.
Today’s journey takes you into the Koakoveld, where you spend the next 2 nights at the very special hotel. The Kaokoveld is a dry, mountainous and relatively undeveloped region that takes in the harsh beauty of the Skeleton Coast and the coppery sands of the northern Namib Desert. Overnight at the lodge close to the western side of the Etosha National park. Dinner and breakfast to be enjoyed.
Hobatere offers the visitor the opportunity to experience optional game drives in open vehicles and optional nature walks with well-knowledgeable rangers. Early morning and night drives are part of the optional activities on offer where many nocturnal animals, such as aardvark, cape fox, bat-eared fox, aardwolf, genet and many more are encountered. Enjoy dinner and breakfast at the lodge.
Travel from lodge to the Andersons Camps, situated just outside the Etosha National Park. You could arrange an afternoon drive on the private game reserve at Andersson Camp. Alternatively spend the time at the waterhole waiting for the animals to come and drink water. Dinner and breakfast to be enjoyed at the lodge.
Full day to spend in the Etosha National Park with own rental vehicle, or book one of the many optional activities offered at Andersons Camp. Dinner and breakfast to be enjoyed at the lodge.
Drive via the Etosha National Park, crossing the park from west to the eastern side, spending the whole day visiting various waterholes along the way. The Etosha National Park is Namibia's premiere game viewing experience, situated in the northwest of Namibia and is an area well known for its wildlife. Overnight just outside the National park at Mushara. Dinner and breakfast to be enjoyed at the lodge.
Another full day to explore the Etosha National Park with your rental vehicle. Stop over for lunch at one of the rest Camps. Etosha offers some of the best game viewing in Namibia. Overnight just outside the National park at Mushara. Dinner and breakfast to be enjoyed at the lodge.
Drive from Mushara Bush Camp to Okonjima. Home of the Africat Foundation. Various optional activities are available that you can choose from while visiting this special property. Dinner and breakfast to be enjoyed at the lodge.
Return to Windhoek via the town of Okahandja. It is one of Namibia’s oldest established settlements and is the administrative center of the Herero-speaking people. Continue from Okahandja back to Windhoek, where you can either travel directly to the airport (with an afternoon flight) or overnight in Windhoek at a guesthouse.
