Day 1: Turin and its rich culinary tradition

Benvenuto in Italia! Your Gourmet Italian Escape starts from Turin, the first capital of Italy (1861– 1865) and still now a city renowned for its rich and sofisticated culinary tradition. After the check-in and some time for relaxing, in the late afternoon our food guide will pick you up at your hotel for a Turin food walk, where you will discover this beautiful and elegant city, walking in its streets and squares and stopping at the best local venues for tasting its gourmet specialties.

Day 2: Truffle Hunt and Winery visit

Today is the time to leave the city and go to discover the countryside of Lange, Roero and Monferrato who became Unesco World Heritage for its beauty and for its rich food tradition. Your driver will pick you up at your hotel in Turin for taking you to the meeting with a local trifualu (truffle hunter). He will reveal to you all the secrets of the world of truffles and then lead you through woods, together with the truffle dogs on a hunt for the famous tuber magnatum, the truffle! At the end of the truffle hunt, you’ll come back to the trifulao house for a truffle tasting (light refreshment, not lunch).

After enjoying some free time for lunch, your driver will take you to an excellent winery we’ve handpicked for you. Here the wine maker will welcome you and he will show his winery, his cellar and you will see how the Barolo wine, considered one of the best wine in the world, is produced. Of course, you will end the experience tasting this sensational red nectar.

At the end of the wine tasting, with the intense and divine flavour of the Barolo wine still lingering into your mouth, you will enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Langhe hills, comfortably sat in your car while your driver will take you to your special and elegant countryside accommodation where you will check-in and, after some time for relaxation, you will enjoy a traditional piedmont dinner.

Day 3: University of Gastronomic Science and luxury Spa relaxation

After breakfast, your driver will take you to Pollenzo at the University of Gastronomic Science, a renowned research and education center, where food, flavors, traditions and science melt together. After a brief introduction to this unique University, you will join a special and fun “tour of Italy” through the wine: you will experience a guided tasting of 5 different wines coming from different areas of Italy, different terroir, soil and land, understanding what makes them so different.

​After enjoying some free time for lunch, in the afternoon you will have the chance to relax in style. You’ll indulge in a visit to a premium spa atop a bricco, a Langhe hill, from where you can overlook all the beauty of the vineyard landscape. Dedicated to relaxation and the care of both mind and body, the spa we have chosen for you, boasts almost unlimited opportunities for rest and rejuvenation: a swimming pool, hot tub, cold tub, sauna, Turkish Bath, and places to take in the stunning scenery of the Langhe Hills while you enjoy a cup of tea or a cold drink. In the late afternoon, your driver will take you back to your accommodation for enjoying the sunset. The rest of the day will be at your leisure.

Day 4: Bologna and fresh pasta making class

Enjoy the rich buffet breakfast made with local products that you will find at your accommodation and then meet you driver for going to the Turin train station. Here you will board a comfortable high-speed train to travel to Bologna. These new trains are an Italian pride and they can travel up to 300 km/h. At the Bologna train station, a driver will be waiting for you to drive to your centrally located quality boutique hotel.

​You will have time for relaxing and for a stroll in the charming Bologna city center before joining a cuoca (local chef) to get your hands dirty in a very fun and interesting pasta making class. Tagliatelle, tortellini and so many other pasta varieties: you will learn a lot to impress your guests once back home. At the end of the pasta class you’ll have deserved a dinner where you will taste together with the chef the divine pasta you made.

Day 5: Parmesan cheese, Balsamic vinegar and Gelato making class

Emilia Romagna, the region of Bologna is rich of many treasures. Today you’ll have the chance to enjoy most of them. You will start with a visit to a Parmesan Cheese producer, where you’ll see all the phases of the production process and at the end you will taste delicious Parmesan cheese with different aging time. From this treasure to another: Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena DOP. This is the only official balsamic vinegar that needs to be aged 12 years or 25 years. We’ve selected a family run acetaia (balsamic vinegar producer) that will open for you the door of their house and explain to you the history of their family, the difficult and long production process and they will make you taste this product unique in the world.

​You will then have some free time for lunch, before landing in the gelato wonderland! You will visit an extraordinary museum where you will see the evolution of the gelato, from roman times to our times. You will then join a fun gelato making class, where you will learn some secrets to make gelato at home and you will taste the divine gelato of a master gelato maker.

Day 6: San Gimignano, Chianti and Tuscany countryside 

Today is time to explore another wonderful Italian country side area, with a rich culinary tradition: Tuscany.

You will travel by high speed train from Bologna to Florence, where a comfortable car is waiting for you to take you to San Gimignano and the Chianti area. You will have some free time to explore this beautiful medieval village before spending a wonderful day learning about and tasting the precious gems this land offers: saffron, extra virgin olive oil, Vernaccia wine and Chianti wine. We’ve handpicked for you excellent local producers that will guide you in tasting and discovering these products defined as the “gold of San Gimignano”.

​At lunch time, you will enjoy a delicious lunch made with these local products. In the late afternoon, with your belly full and your heart happy you will relish a panoramic drive while your driver will escort you to your elegant countryside accommodation, where after some time for relaxing, a gourmet dinner with local products is waiting for you.

Day 7: Val d’Orcia, Pecorino Cheese and Brunello wine

Val d’Orcia is an area of the Tuscan countryside famous for the beauty of its landscape and to produce a tasty pecorino cheese as well as of full body important red wines. Today a local guide will meet you in Pienza for showing you this incredible and history rich town. Pienza can be considered the center of the Val d’Orcia and it is the town giving the name to the worldwide renowned pecorino cheese, that is Pecorino di Pienza. After visiting Pienza, together with your guide you will meet one of the best pecorino cheese producer of Val d’Orcia and after learning all the production process you will enjoy a delicious light lunch with pecorino cheese and some other local products.

​After the lunch, you will continue to Montepulciano, where your guide, after a visit to this medieval town, will escort you to an ancient winery, revealing the secrets of an important wine and where you will taste this divine red nectar.

Day 8: Rome

Today you will travel to Rome by high speed train, where you will check-in at your hotel centrally located. After some time for relaxation you will join a small group for a fun and fantastic food tour of Rome. Your guide will walk you around Rome stopping in the best venues serving traditional and exquisite local bites.

After some time for relaxation and for exploring Rome, as every proper meal ends with the dessert, this Gourmet Italian Escape will take you for a private guided Dessert Tour of Rome. In the late afternoon, you will meet your guide a for a sweet and delicious experience you will never forget. During this tour, while eating and drinking, you will enjoy some sightseeing together with your guide. This is the alternative with the private dessert tour.
