Upon arrival in Bali, you will walk to your airport hotel to rest for the night.
From Bali, you will board the flight to Tambolaka in Sumba. Upon arrival, you will be picked up and transferred to Watu Maladong, famous for its beautiful beach and the unique massive rocks standing tall in the middle of the sea. Afterward, continue your journey to Mbawanna Beach. You will drive past sandy roads that will lead to a massive field of high grass that gives you an adventurous feeling. A short stop at a viewpoint will give you a breathtaking view of Watu Maladong and Mbawanna Beach. Arriving at Mbawanna, walk around this rarely visited beach.
After waking up and getting ready for a new day of exploring, you will be picked up at your hotel and we will be heading to Ratenggaro village where you can meet the locals, their own culture and see the traditional Sumbanese houses. The village is built near a beach which you can visit when you are there. You will have a nice view of the village while standing on the beach. You can see the peaks of the houses on the higher ground. After the village, we will bring you to Weekuri Lake. This lake is a saltwater lake in the south-west of Sumba. You can take a dive to experience the blue and clear water of Weekuri and also for a possible cooling down.
After that you are all dried up, we will continue our journey to Mandorak Beach which is very close to Weekuri Lake. The beach will provide a great and peaceful stay with nice spots. The big opening between two rock ridges will let the clear blue water pass through the beach and also let you look far into the ocean. When you are there, you can also take the higher ground which will give a view of the coastline and the rocky cliffs where you can watch the sunset.
After breakfast, your adventure continues. You will visit the village of Tarung/Waitabar which located just west of Waikabubak area. The village will welcome you as you walk around. Continue your journey to visit Lapopu waterfall through an endless drive, passing the hilly landscapes of Sumba. A short hike and a bamboo bridge later, you arrive at the waterfall. Don’t forget your swimsuits! Afterwards, back to the car and drive to the East of Sumba where it takes around 3 – 4 hrs by car. Arriving in East Sumba, a quick stop at Wairinding Hill to see the sunset before you arrive at the hotel.
After breakfast, pack your swimsuit as you will go to Waimarang waterfall today. Be careful as you will get on a tough trekking route to go to the waterfall. After visiting the waterfall, trek back up the hill and continue your journey to visit Rende Village, a traditional village surrounded by massive graves. You’ll see how they make their own clothing, called “Ikat”. The journey continue as you drive to Waingapu. On the way, stop at Walakiri where you will enjoy the sunset while also exploring the beach and its bushes of mangroves.
This will be your last breakfast in Sumba as today you will fly back to Bali. Before going to the airport, one last stop at Bukit Persaudaraan will give you one last glimpse of Sumba beauty through its landscape. Afterwards, board the flight to Bali and upon arrival in Bali you will be transferred to your resort in Nusa Dua to rest.
The day is free for you to enjoy. You can relax at the hotel or try the selection of water sports available just a few steps away from your hotel.
Today is the end of the trip. At appropriate time, you will be transferred from your hotel in Nusa Dua to Ngurah Rai Airport for flight to your next destination.
