This tour idea is fully customisable

The itinerary has been created by our local agency with one idea in mind: to inspire you. Every element can be adapted to your needs and interests, from duration to accommodation and activities.

Day 1: Iceland arrival!

And so it begins...

Transfer to your accommodation in Reykjavík

• After check-in stop by for an optional introduction meeting

• Begin to enjoy the vibrant capital city at your own pace

• Visit the classic highlights along with new local shops, cafés and restaurants


Day 2: Snaefellsnes peninsula

• After breakfast, scoop up your rental vehicle and head towards the Snæfellsnes peninsula

• Explore Sönghellir cave and the spectacular Hellnar Cove

• Visit lovely coastal villages along the peninsula


Day 3: The West Fjords

• Today, travel to the majestic Western Fjords

Board a ferry in Stykkishólmur and cross the Breiðafjörður Bay (3h)

• Marvel at the 400+ meter vertical drop of Látrabjarg cliff

• Be spellbound by Rauðisandur red sand beach

• Return to Patreksfjörður

Day 4: Charming coastal villages

• Drive to the charming old town of Ísafjörður

• On the way, pass through the tiny villages of Patreksfjörður, Tálknafjörður and Bíldudalur

• Continue to the Arnarfjörður fjord and hike up to the top of Dynjandi, one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls

• Visit Skrúður botanical garden

• Finish the day in cosy village of Ísafjörður

Breiðavík, Isafjordur, Patreksfjordur, Dynjandi

Day 5: Strandir and Holmavik area

• Today, visit some of the most remote areas of Iceland

• Take a boat cruise from Ísafjörður around Hornbjarg cliff to isolated Reykjafjörður (summer only)

• Or, weave your way to the village of Hólmavík, the capital of ancient sorcery and mysticism

• If you have time, visit the sorcery and witchcraft museum

Day 6: Onwards to Akureyri

• Drive from Hólmavík to Akureyri, the northern capital

• Stop in Skagafjörður for Icelandic horseback riding or enjoy a thrilling river rafting adventure (grade III/IV)

• In Akureyri, you will find a popular geothermal heated water park

• Time permitting, check out the botanical garden, the Akureyri Church, the Hof Culture Center and Hliðarfjall ski area


Day 7: Lake Myvatn

• Head for surreal Lake Mývatn

• En route, witness the spectacular Goðafoss

• In Mývatn, explore the Skútustaðir pseudo craters, Dimmuborgir lava field, Mt. Hverfjall, Krafla volcano and the Námaskarð thermal area

• In the evening, visit the Mývatn Nature Baths for a relaxing dip in a geothermal pool

Day 8: Diamond Circle and Egilsstadir

• Next up, the Diamond Circle route (summer only)

• Stop in Húsavík, famous for its whale watching tours

• Head to Ásbyrgi canyon, a beautiful forested canyon forged by the hoof of Odin’s eight-legged stallion

• Continue to Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall

• Drive along black volcanic deserts and deep valleys to arrive at Egilsstaðir


Day 9: The East Fjords

• Drive through the rugged East Fjords of Iceland, visiting peaceful fishing villages on the way

• In Djúpivogur, check out the Eggs of Merry Bay art installation

• Then, onto Höfn - the lobster capital of Iceland

Day 10: Jökulsarlon & Skaftafell

• Take a boat ride among icebergs (summer only)

• Continue to Skaftafell, a lush green oasis

Hike to Svartifoss (2h), surrounded by black basalt columns

• Arrive in Kirkjubæjarklaustur, origin of Iceland’s first monastery

Day 11: The South coast

• Visit Fjaðárgljúfur canyon and continue through the Eldhraun lava field towards Vík, home of the black volcanic beach of Reynisfjara

• Stop at the Dyrhólaey peninsula, the nesting ground of thousands of seabirds (summer only)

• A little further east you’ll find Skógar and the picture perfect Skógafoss waterfall

• Close by is Skógar Folk Museum displaying reconstructed turf houses

• Follow the path and find your way behind the Seljalandsfoss waterfall

• Arrive in the village of Hvolsvöllur

Reynisfjara, DyrhólaeyVík, Skogar

Day 12: The Golden Circle route

• Drive to the Kerið crater, known for its crystal-clear water

• From there, drive to the Gullfoss waterfall

• Sample the traditional Icelandic meat soup at Gullfoss café

• Stick around for a spout from the Strokkur geyser (every 10 minutes)

• Don’t miss a chance to taste some hot spring baked rye bread!

• Afterwards, head for Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site

Head back to Reykjavik & return the rental car at arrival

Day 13: Reykjavik day at leisure

• Enjoy a free day in the vibrant capital

• Do some people watching at a nice cafe in town

• Perhaps, visit some of the highlights such as Hallgrímskirkja church, Perlan dome, the Solar Voyager sculpture or Harpa Music Center

• Later, explore the city's world-famous nightlife


Day 14: Departure day

• If your flight is in the afternoon, we recommend a revitalizing soak at the Blue Lagoon

Transfer to Keflavik international airport
