A wonderful waterfall with the added bonus of an often-present rainbow!

My suggestion:
Don't forget your camera!
Summary:

Gullfoss is the last stopping place on the Golden Circle, which is the very well-known route for a holiday in Iceland, after Thingvellir National Park and Geysir. Although it is not the most powerful waterfall since Dettifoss in northern Iceland takes the biscuit, for me, it is just as impressive.

What especially makes it an exceptional site is the almost constant presence of a wonderful rainbow above the waterfalls. Although I cannot explain the phenomenon, I gladly take photos of it when I get the chance.

I like to linger near the Gullfoss falls to try my best to capture the power of Mother Nature but, in the end, the photos are often quite dull in comparison with the energy that the site gives off. Incidentally, there was a plan to turn it into a power plant and a farmer from the area fought tooth and nail against the developers to safeguard this extraordinary piece of natural heritage. I want to thank him because today I am the one who benefits from it!
