Visit medieval Trakošćan castle displaying fabulous architecture, original contemporary furniture and a baroque period park with a lake. Continue down the baroque and rococo lane, in to the lovely town Varaždin, the best-preserved Croatian example of these lively periods and a historical nucleus of Croatia. Lunch in a local restaurant. Stroll through the old town seeing baroque facades, parks and palaces, along the way, as well as a particular highlight – Old Castle – an old feudal fort. Return to Zagreb for the night. (BB, L)

Day 3: Zagreb to Ljubljana - Exploring Slovenian capital Ljubljana

Pick up your rental car in front of your hotel and head to Slovenia’s capital; the beautiful Ljubljana, which maintains the relaxed atmosphere of a small, central European university city. Do some sightseeing of the city with a local guide: Dragon’s, Triple, Shoemaker’s bridges, and an old medieval castle on the hill above the city center, colorful Baroque façades, and St. Nicolas’ Cathedral. Enjoy free time for the rest of the day before relaxing for the night. (BB)
