This is the more countryside part of China, away from big cities, where you find yourself in ancient villages that kept their history alive, and landscapes that take your breath away ! In Yunnan: Kunming, Dali, Lijiang and sites around; in Guangxi; Yangshuo and the rice paddies of Longji; wonderful trip very well organized by Travelstone; they have been very responsive to my expectations, for the intensity of the program, the choices of accommodations and kept in touch during the trip ; well done !
The best parts:
All my visits in Yunnan and Guangxi were well organized and some sights were excellent, out of the beaten path, suggestions I would not have found myself! I particularly liked Dali, Lijiang and Yangshuo, these are magical places
The worst parts:
One of my driver was a bit pushy on the road. No big deal . Everything else was excellent!

We had a great time but would not go back to bejing again. Guide in bejing was not up to the same standard as the others. It felt like he was reeling off the bare minimum of information. He was very pleasant though. The organisation was superb and everything worked like clockwork.
The best parts:
We enjoyed the whole trip but yellow mountains and xian were best.
The worst parts:
Bejing was very packed and going straight to the forbidden city off the plane was not good.

China was truly a real surprise. There is a true respect for the 'old' while embracing the future and the 'new'. The Great Wall and Forbidden City in Beijing, the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xi'an and the Yuyuan Gardens and the fabulous Shanghai skyline are sights not to be missed!
The best parts:
We loved absolutely everything! The local agency in Beijing took care of every detail. We could not have asked for more. The personal drivers and tour guides in each of the three cities we visited were all excellent. The accomodations and activities planned for us were exactly what we had hoped for. Everyone was so gracious and catered to our every need and desire. This was a trip that dreams are made from.
The worst parts:
The only thing we didn't like about the trip was that it wasn't long enough! We could easily have spent more time exploring this wonderful country and its customs and people.

Visiting China for the first time was an amazing experience. Our tour was tailor made to suit our wishes and budget. Our local agent was helpful throughout and even met us on arrival. In a country that is so different culturally it was reassuring to know that help was always to hand.
The best parts:
The opportunity to explore a fascinating new country but know that we were not on our own. Not having to worry about transport from A to B while we were in China.
The worst parts:
Some glitches with meeting guides. It would have been helpful to have their name and phone number and an exact meeting point. Guides sometimes rushed through sites with limited time for photos or souvenir shopping. They perhaps forget this is our first time whereas they probably visit weekly. We had to remind them a few times we needed a break for lunch. Standard of guide varied. Travelling to Shanghai by train was too long at over 8 hours Yangtze Cruise ship was described as 5 stars, it did not deserve one star. Poor weather and pollution but unavoidable!

Everyone knows about the size of China's population and the power of it's economy. However, actually experiencing it first hand is a completely different matter. We travelled to Beijing and returned from Shanghai. Between times we undertook 2 long train journeys (one overnight), 2 internal flights and a number of long minibus journeys. That really gave us a feel for the scale and diversity of this fascinating, friendly and exciting country.
The best parts:
* Everything running smoothly - guides always there to meet us. * Quality of accommodation - ranged from good to very good indeed. * Guilin and surrounding areas - such a contrast to the wealthier areas, rice terrace visit phenomenal. * Shanghai - I don't have sufficient vocabulary. Breathtaking. * Chinese people - warm, funny, friendly. * Guides - so informative, polite, knowledgeable, helpful, friendly.
The worst parts:
* Too many temples. Fascinating at first, but eventually wore thin. * The oppressive climate (would go at a different time of year). * At some tourist attractions the sheer volume of other tourists massively detracted from enjoyment. * By day 12 eating Chinese food twice each day had begun to pall (minor issue only).

Beijing- Saw forbidden city and Great wall, stayed in the Hutong district. It was overall a great stop and we would go back. Xi'an- Best tour guide (Iris)! Saw the terracotta army (and the factory where they make the replicas), biked on the city wall and went to an amazing dinner & dance show. Tibet- Beautiful landscapes, lots of Buddhist monasteries and temples and Everest. Delicious momo! Nepal- Nice change of pace, Hindu temples and beautiful architecture. Pangkor Laut- Very relaxing, perfect end to a vacation!
The best parts:
Hiking the Great Wall, the Tang Dynasty dinner show (recommended by our Xi'an tour guide Iris), Terra Cotta warriers.
The worst parts:
Being in the car for 4 days to and from Everest.

It was great to be met upon our arrival by a member of the team. The flexibility started day 1 when weather was bad so the site car tour was moved to early next morning. That was so much fun! The camping/hike on the wall allowed us to see parts most tourists don't. Loved camping on the wall. The communication was a little off though. Everyone commented about the confusion on what we brought, what happened to our stuff we didn't pack, etc. But the views, thhe food, and experience were great. Xi'an was OK. The tour guide was nice. But it felt like we were trapped into a specific restaurant that the food was bad and was gimmicky. I liked how our guide made sure the hotel would get us a box breakfast and recommended a good spot for dinner. I wasn't really happy with the confusion over the Tibet permit for our friend that met us in Lhasa. I felt we should have been told it would cost extra for delivery before we paid. Our flight information was known then. However, our guider took great care of us. I wish we could have hiked a little more. Our guide tried to be flexible with us. Although we understand that we needed to acclimate 3 days in Lhasa too long. Other areas to explore and hike would have been nice. Also, the tour company recommended places to eat but all very touristy and food not all that good. When our guide was with us, he took us to local spots and we had a blast. We also found places on our own. But if I travel to Tibet, I want real food, not spaghetti. The experience, views, guide, and new friends were amazing. Accommodation were all good. The place on Lhasa was fun as the staff helped us out and did a lot to make sure we enjoyed our stay.
The best parts:
The flexibility of our guides and meeting wonderful new people
The worst parts:
The final itinerary sent had incorrect information (old flight info, wrong hotels) or missing information which confused members of the group.

Let me first say the trip was wonderful with so many well known places to visit. The Terracotta Warriors, the Great Wall the Longman Grottos but most surprisingly Tongli. Trying the local food out with the help of the guides was fun
The best parts:
Visiting places with our own driver and a knowledgeable guide to point out the unusual, this was excellent.
The worst parts:
Arriving in Beijing from a long haul flight to a long list of wonderful places to visit with neither the energy nor the hours to enjoy and appreciate them. maybe an extra day in Beijing?

Excellent trip as I visited most of the well known places and was very excited to have my own time without having to wait for others
The best parts:
Overall it was managed very well and coordination was done excellently with the guides and drivers working well together to serve my needs!
The worst parts:
All is good! Perhaps the hotel that you guys choose for the package must be good ones in the future close to the city and transportation so that I don't have to book myself and the pricing have to be inclusive and reasonable because you already saved a lot with the tour packages as in reality its not that expensive when you look at the actual tickets.
